ABBCENTER Tutoring

& Early College Prepartory Program

This program was created with the struggling learner in mind. Using various assessment techniques the program locates each child’s weakness using a series of test and evaluation software. Afterward using a team of Educators, Specialist teachers and parent assistants we sit down with the parent and discuss with them their child’s needs.

ABBCENTER thrives itself on the fact that everyone student or adult can learn with a little help.  Our use of ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY and Peer support helps transform our struggling learners into model students. Our program also works in conjunction with an Early College Prep program that instructs parents and student on what is required for a child to obtain acceptance to the college program of his or her choice. From grade 5 and sometimes earlier we start focusing on specific areas to which a child may wish to study for a career. A child then finds 3 schools (DREAM SCHOOLS) to which become part of their daily training process. They write stories about them, they research them and during the summer months they may even get in a College tour. It is our hope that by the time a child gets into high school they see those four years as a stepping stone to the rest of their lives.  For more information please call us at 718-474-2740

THIS PROGRAM OPERATES:

Monday-Thursday from 2:45pm-6:45pm

THE COST is $25 Dollars Per CHILD.

(Pick up and drop off of your child from school to your home is EXTRA)

PRE-GED Preparation Program:

THIS PROGRAM HAS CHANGED. We are currently offering this program in a concentrated form. Each month we will be teaching a different section of the GED exam. Our Schedule is as follows

• MAR 22-APR 22 Math
• APR 26-MAY 27   READING Instruction (Science, READING Section)
• MAY 31-JUNE 24 Writing

THE COST OF EACH SECTION is $130 dollars for the entire MONTH including a NEW GED BOOK

A+ Certification:

This program offered only on Saturdays will train prospective technicians on all aspects of the A+ exam. Students will build from scratch two computers, one computer during their basic classwork as a model and a second computer for their final grade. The second computer will be theirs to keep. The cost of this class is $500 dollars including all materials needed to create the computers.

Literacy Program:

At the heart of the Rockaway’s is our Senior Populations. ABBCENTER and ARVERNE by the bay are committed to the creation of programs that harness the unique talents and abilities of our seniors so they can feel a sense of belonging to the community to which they helped build. Our programs range from our fun an innovative WINGO (TM) program to which is BINGO plus an entire host of programs and activities to which the SENIORS can win points and prizes. To Computer literacy and Digital photography to which will aid our seniors in becoming familiar with modern technology. As part of our Afterschool Programs

FRIDAY EVENING STUDY BREAK we also host our DIKEMBE WISDOM sessions(TM) to which the seniors meet with our children and discuss topics provided by us regarding today’s current events and other topics. This is grand opportunity to bridge the gap between these two generations using common dialogue and refreshments as the catalyst. In addition we also host various forums for local politicians to discuss senior healthcare issues and Town Hall Meetings.

CENTER RENTALS:

We rent our Establishment for parties, weddings and various events. Our only stipulation is the events are NON-Alcoholic due to the proximity of the center to our church sanctuary for more information
